Chairs Report — August 2018
Where have all our veteran cars gone? This was the question I was asking myself recently after viewing some old photos and films which depict various events here in SA that include cars from the Veteran and Edwardian era’s. I was most interested to find some very desirable marques in all the images – like the circ. 1912 Clement-Bayard (left), but I started to wonder whatever happened to these cars? Some of the images are from 1953. . . . could they have lived on another 65 years in someone’s back shed and still be around? Where has the Panhard with the dented radiator gone? What about the Flanders tourer?
I do however know where the 1909 De Dion Bouton in the next picture has ended up. (If you are taking part in the coming Southern Weekend Adventure, you might find out what’s happened to this vehicle!)
