From the Chairman — May 2017

As the days get steadily shorter and the weather turns colder and wetter, it becomes a challenge for so many of us to enjoy our veteran vehicles. With this in mind, your Committee has decided to look for some ‘alternative’ options for weekend runs that enable some socialising as a club, which lets us either use a veteran vehicle, or if the weather is poor, go for your modern vehicle. Once we get to September, we will look towards holding some runs specifically for our veteran vehicles – as we prepare for the National Veteran Rally in Clare.

So far the following ‘wet weather alternatives’ have been planned:

  • May: Kingston House – Devonshire Tea (with cannon shooting!)
  • June: National Railway Museum – Guided Tour
  • July: VCCSA Annual Club Dinner (night event)
  • August: Shed visits

As we near the end of the financial year, we start focusing on a few areas which support the smooth running of our club. In a separate email, you would have received some important documents which require your attention (some hard copies will be made available at the May Gathering):

  • Membership Renewal Form
  • Statutory Declaration Form
  • Notice of Annual General Meeting of the VCC-SA/Nomination for the Committee

As an Association held together by our unique shared interest in the early years of motoring, with a purpose to share this interest both socially and through appreciating our vehicles, we need to remember that the Managing Committee is in place to foster and enable the above to happen. Those who make the effort to work for our Club as a member of the managing group do all they can to support our movement and your enjoyment as a member of the Veteran Car Club of SA. If you have some spare time or would be interested to support the work of the Committee or keen to learn more of what’s involved with a view to nominating, please talk to any of the current Committee and they will happily fill you in.

Happy veteran motoring.   Hamish McDonald (Chair)
